We are thrilled to bring you the first Moving from College to Career newsletter from Introships!
Each month, youâll hear from the Introships team with tactical guidance on navigating college, exploring careers, and preparing for recruiting.
We donât want this to feel like every other newsletter that lands in your inbox. Our goal is to share ideas you can actually use â plus the occasional reminder about our program deadlines and opportunities. Everyone receiving this email is a close contact of Introships, so please know we welcome your feedback. Just shoot us a note in response to this email.
Today's Tactics: The Framework Worth Stealing
As we thought about how to start this series, our minds kept going back to Hagan Ramseyâs presentation during our Summer 2025 Career Discovery Program.
He shared a framework thatâs deceptively simple, but incredibly powerful for anyone trying to figure out where and how to launch their career.
It comes down to three questions:
1ď¸âŁ What game do you want to play?
2ď¸âŁ How fast do you want to run?
3ď¸âŁ How do you want to be compensated?
Letâs break that down.
What game do you want to play?
Every career has its own ârulesâ and outcomes. Each path carries its own rewards, risks, and definitions of success.
Thinking about what the 1%, 5%, and 50% outcomes look like in different fields helps you decide which game you actually want to play â and which ones donât align with your goals.
How fast do you want to run?
Careers move at different speeds. Some are constant sprints; others give you breathing room.
Neither is right or wrong, but being honest about your preferred pace helps you find roles that fit your energy, priorities, and season of life. Ask yourself: what level of challenge feels motivating now, and can this careerâs pace flex when life changes?
How do you want to be compensated?
Compensation isnât just salary â itâs structure. Some roles offer steady paychecks; others rely on bonuses, commissions, or equity.
Knowing your comfort with risk and how long youâre willing to wait for rewards helps you narrow down which industries and roles make sense for you.
These questions wonât give you the right answer automatically, but theyâll help you ask better ones. And thatâs what career exploration is really about: curiosity, reflection, and clarity. Exactly what we aim to help students build at Introships.
